Verdant Cold Storage, built by Cold Care Services.
When the racking is the building
In a rack-supported store the racking does two jobs: it holds the produce and it carries the roof and the walls. There is no separate structural frame, so the building goes up faster, uses less steel overall, and stores more in the same footprint.
It is not right for every commodity — bagged produce handled manually does better in a conventional store — but where the goods are palletised and the throughput is high, it is the most economical building we know how to put up.
What a visit shows you
If you are considering this construction for your own project, ask us to arrange a visit. Ten minutes inside a working rack-supported store explains more than any drawing.
